About Usman Saleem

Usman Saleem is the founder, author and editor of My Mimi Home, a home decor inspiration website built around one simple belief: great decorating advice should be visual, practical and easy to save for later. Writing as @usmansaleemsb, he creates the room-by-room guides and decor listicles that readers discover every day through Pinterest and Google.

His work focuses on helping everyday readers — homeowners, renters and first-time decorators — turn a saved photo into a real room. Instead of design jargon, Usman explains each idea through the elements that actually create it: the colour palette, the furniture shapes, the textiles, the lighting and the small styling details that pull a space together.

Topics Usman Writes About

  • Bedroom design: colour schemes such as modern grey and dark academia, bedding layers, headboards, lighting and calm, sleep-friendly layouts.
  • Living room decor: sofas and seating layouts, coffee table styling, curtains, rugs, wall decor and warm lighting.
  • Decor styles: warm minimalism, dark academia, modern farmhouse, Japandi, boho, biophilic design and earthy neutral interiors.
  • Small spaces: space-saving furniture, storage that looks good, and layout tricks for apartments and compact rooms.
  • Seasonal and trend guides: the colours, materials and looks shaping home decor each year, translated into ideas readers can use immediately.

Editorial Standards

Usman edits every guide published on My Mimi Home against the same standards:

  • Useful over fashionable: An idea is only included if a reader can realistically recreate it at home, at more than one budget level.
  • Honest recommendations: Where a guide mentions products or includes affiliate links, that relationship is disclosed in line with our Disclaimer.
  • Corrections welcome: If a reader spots an error, a broken link or an uncredited image, Usman reviews and corrects it. Contact details are below.
